Backend Engineer

Journey Better Business Group Inc. is hiring a Backend Engineer and AI Integrations to build the integration and automation layer behind our AI chatbot. You'll design FastAPI services, connect third‑party systems via direct APIs and n8n workflows, and ensure data flows are secure, reliable, and observable. Integrations & Services

• Design, build, and maintain FastAPI microservices and webhooks that connect our AI chatbot to CRMs, support platforms, marketing tools, and internal systems.
• Develop n8n workflows (and similar tools like Zapier/Make when needed) to orchestrate multi‑step automations with robust error handling, retries, and alerts.
• Implement API auth and security patterns (OAuth2, JWT, API keys), pagination, rate‑limiting, idempotency, and request/response validation.

Workflow Reliability & Quality

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair failed jobs and integrations using logs/metrics; leverage AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate debugging.
• Write unit and integration tests (e.g., pytest) for services and workflows; validate data mappings end‑to‑end before launch.
• Create and maintain playbooks, runbooks, and technical documentation for integrations and automations.

Data Handling

• Work with structured and unstructured data; map, transform, and validate payloads across systems.
• Coordinate secure data transfers between platforms and ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal policies.

Collaboration

• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to scope requirements and deliver on time.
• Communicate technical updates clearly to non‑technical stakeholders and support post‑deployment enhancements.

Required

• Solid programming fundamentals and production experience with Python and FastAPI (or a similar modern web framework).
• Hands-on experience with API integrations, webhooks, and data transformation (JSON).
• Familiarity with n8n or other workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make/Integromat).
• Understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), basic SQL, and data modeling.
• Version control (Git) and comfort with CI/CD basics; attention to testing and reliability.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating with common B2B platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Zendesk, Slack, Google Workspace).
• Observability know‑how (structured logging, metrics, alerts) and containerization (Docker).
• Knowledge of asynchronous Python (asyncio), queues, and background workers.
• Exposure to conversational AI backends (LLM APIs, retrieval/vector stores) and prompt craft for Claude Code or similar assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
• QA or workflow validation experience.

Education & Leveling

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• We're open to strong entry‑level candidates with solid fundamentals and to mid‑level engineers with direct automation/integration experience.

• Competitive compensation: PHP 28,000–60,000 per month (gross), commensurate with experience and skill level.
