Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Payroll Specialist
with strong knowledge of payroll processing and
multi-state tax administration
. The ideal candidate will have expertise in payroll tax filings, compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, and the ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll accurately and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.

  • Manage and ensure compliance with:

  • Form 941 Federal Withholding and Social Security/Medicare (Employee Withholding)

  • Form 940 Federal Unemployment (Employer Expense)
  • State Withholding (Employee Withholding)
  • SUTA State Unemployment (Employer Expense, with some states including Employee Withholding)

  • Local Taxes including but not limited to OH, PA, KY, MI, GA, and other states requiring local tax processing.

  • Utilize and navigate payroll systems, including Gazelle, SMART, IQ (training will be provided), as well as support tools like Slack and Zendesk.

  • Conduct research and resolve payroll tax issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or 5+ years of experience in multi-state payroll tax preparation and administration.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and related software; tech-savvy and adaptable to new applications.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional client service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet deadlines.
