We are currently developing an AI-powered email app that transforms the way users write, manage, and send emails .

We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who can help design, build, and scale the backbone of this platform.


Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will lead the architecture, API design, and backend development for our AI-driven email platform.

You will work closely with frontend, AI, and DevOps teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and seamless integrations with voice recognition, AI text enhancement, and email APIs (Gmail, Outlook, etc.).

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup-style environment, working on challenging technical problems, designing for scale, and taking full ownership of backend services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs to handle email composition, AI enhancement, and integrations with email providers.
  • Integrate third-party APIs such as Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, OpenAI Whisper (Speech-to-Text), and GPT-based text improvement models.
  • Design scalable and secure database schemas in PostgreSQL for storing user data, drafts, and analytics.
  • Implement background processing for asynchronous tasks (e.g., voice transcription, AI enhancement, email delivery).
  • Build secure OAuth 2.0 authentication flows for third-party email accounts.
  • Optimize system performance, query execution, and caching strategies for scalability.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system reliability.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers and frontend developers to ship new features quickly and safely.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture design, and code review practices.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 4+ years of professional experience in software/backend development.
  • Strong expertise in , , and PostgreSQL.
  • Deep understanding of API design, data modeling, and scalable architecture.
  • Experience integrating with email APIs (Gmail, Outlook, or SendGrid).
  • Experience working with AI APIs such as OpenAI, Whisper, or other LLM services.
  • Solid understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure authentication flows.
  • Experience deploying applications on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Docker or containerized workflows.
  • Familiarity with background job systems (Redis, BullMQ, RabbitMQ, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of encryption, data security, and rate limiting best practices.
  • Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud monitoring tools (Datadog, Sentry, CloudWatch).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a distributed team.

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Experience with speech-to-text technologies (Whisper, Google Speech API, AWS Transcribe).
  • Knowledge of GraphQL and microservices architecture.
  • Experience building real-time or streaming data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with LLM prompt engineering or AI-based personalization systems.
