Job Role: Full Stack PHP/Laravel Developer (with Python Experience)

Compensation range: 3500AUD AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration

Role Overview:

The Full Stack PHP/Laravel Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications that support business-critical operations. This role requires strong expertise in PHP (Laravel framework), front-end technologies, and Python for data integration, automation, and backend processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and performant applications, while also contributing to architectural decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using PHP (Laravel framework) and modern JavaScript libraries (React, Vue, or similar).
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and external systems.
• Leverage Python for automation, data processing, and backend services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Implement security best practices in applications and data handling
• Optimise application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and technologies.
• Work effectively in an Agile environment, participating in sprints, stand-ups, and iterative planning sessions.
• Support development activities with unit testing, ensuring code quality and reliability through automated and manual test coverage.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in web and software development.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Application building tools (VSCode, Composer, npm, etc.).
• Experience working in Agile environments, including participation in sprints, stand-ups, and iterative planning.
• Practical experience with unit testing frameworks and methodologies to support robust code quality
• Basic server setup and configuration (Nginx, Apache).
• Linux/Bash proficiency, including cron jobs, process supervision, and console-based development tasks.
• Experience with Docker environments and CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins.
• Version control (Git), with specific experience in Bitbucket repositories.
• CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS (preferred)
• Strong experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimisation.
• RESTful API development and integration, including payment gateways (Stripe, PayPal) and accounting APIs (Xero or equivalent).
• Python for backend services, automation, and data workflows.
• Front-end development with JavaScript and React (preferred), plus experience with InertiaJS.
• PHP 8.1 and above with strong knowledge of MVC frameworks (Laravel V10 above) and adherence to PSR standards for clean, maintainable code.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
