Role Overview

The Finance Manager is a strategic finance leader who partners with studio ventures from inception through growth stages. This role combines financial modeling, capital planning, strategic advisory, and reporting discipline to ensure ventures are investment-ready, financially sustainable, and aligned with the studio's overall portfolio goals.

The Finance Manager acts as a bridge between venture founders, studio leadership, and external investors, supporting ventures through funding rounds, business model validation, and financial reporting accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Modeling & Analysis

  • Build and maintain dynamic financial models for studio ventures (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, unit economics, valuation scenarios).

  • Conduct sensitivity, scenario, and ROI analyses to guide business decisions.

  • Translate business strategies into financial forecasts and funding requirements.

2. Fundraising & Capital Strategy

  • Prepare ventures for funding rounds (Seed, Series A, etc.) by developing pitch-ready financial projections, valuations, and investor materials.

  • Partner with venture leads to structure fundraising strategies, including SAFE, convertible notes, or equity rounds.

  • Support due diligence processes, providing accurate and timely financial information to investors.

3. Strategic Finance Partnering

  • Serve as the finance business partner to venture CEOs/founders, guiding them on cost structures, pricing, and strategic growth decisions.

  • Advise on working capital management, burn rate optimization, and runway extension.

  • Align venture-level strategies with studio-level capital allocation and portfolio performance targets.

4. Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly/quarterly reporting (actuals vs budget, cash position, burn rate).

5. Portfolio & Studio-Level Contributions

  • Consolidate venture reporting for studio portfolio reviews, including MOIC, IRR, burn rates, and capital efficiency metrics.

  • Contribute to refining the studio's venture funding model and performance dashboards.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (CPA, CFA, or MBA is a plus).

  • 5–7 years of experience in investment banking, venture capital, corporate finance, or startup finance.

  • Proven track record in financial modeling, fundraising support, or venture building.

  • Familiarity with early-stage financing instruments (SAFE, convertible notes, equity rounds).

Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced Excel/financial modeling skills; familiarity with BI/reporting tools a plus.

  • Strong understanding of startup metrics (CAC, LTV, unit economics, burn multiple).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and valuation skills.

  • Strong communication skills; able to translate financial insights into business recommendations.

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, entrepreneurial environments.
