Job Summary:

The General Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and timely preparation of financial reports. The role supervises the accounting team and supports management in financial planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review financial statements, monthly closing reports, and schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights on variances, trends, and budget performance.

2. General Ledger Management

  • Monitor and review all journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Oversee accruals, amortizations, and other periodic entries.

3. Supervision & Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff; assign tasks and review outputs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching or training when needed.
  • Ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of accounting tasks.

4. Accounts Payable / Receivable Oversight

  • Review AP and AR transactions, aging schedules, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Approve payments, vouchers, and expense liquidations.

5. Compliance & Audit Support

  • Ensure compliance with taxation (BIR), government regulations, and internal policies.
  • Prepare audit requirements and coordinate with internal and external auditors.

6. Process Improvement

  • Develop, implement, and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
  • Propose automation or system improvements for efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or Finance.
  • CPA is an advantage but not always required.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in general accounting; with supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
