Role description

About the Role:

The objective of this assignment is engage an experienced Data Modeler for a project to design, develop, and optimize a relational database environment to support business-critical applications. The experienced Data Modeler must have advanced skills in PostgreSQL to ensure robust database structures, high performance, and scalability..

Scope of Work/Responsibilities

Specific tasks and service requirements.

1. Data Modeling

• Design and implement conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise systems.

• Ensure consistency and compliance with data architecture principles and naming standards.

• Document models, relationships, and metadata.

2. Database Design and Optimization

• Create and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and views in PostgreSQL.

• Optimize queries, indexes, and storage structures for performance.

• Support normalization and denormalization strategies as required.

3. Collaboration and Integration

• Work closely with application developers, data engineers, and ETL teams to ensure alignment between data models and implementation.

• Participate in data migration and integration projects, ensuring model integrity.

4. Governance and Documentation

• Maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories.

• Establish best practices for database design and change management.

5. Support and Review

• Review and refactor existing database structures where necessary.

• Provide support during testing, deployment, production and performance tuning phases.

Requirement and Qualification (Education & Work Experience)

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in data modeling and database design.

• Proven hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.

• Familiarity with data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio, pgModeler, or similar).

• Experience in data migration using ETL tools like ADF

• Experience working with large-scale, complex datasets and data integration projects.

• Strong understanding of normalization, data integrity, and relational database theory.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
