About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsperson/Estimator to join their growing business specialising in small cabin homes. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 3 years of experience in drafting and estimating, with proficiency in CAD software and a strong understanding of Australian construction standards and codes. This dual role requires someone who can create accurate drawings and designs while also preparing detailed cost estimates to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and elevations using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar).
· Conduct accurate cost estimating for small cabin home projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.
· Review design specifications and ensure compliance with Australian building codes and construction methods.
· Collaborate with the project team to refine designs, resolve issues, and ensure practical buildability of plans.
· Assist in tendering, quoting, and preparing bills of quantities.
· Maintain accuracy and consistency in both drafting and estimating deliverables.
· Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to source quotes and update cost databases.
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring deadlines are met.
· Contribute to process improvements and support the business's growth journey.
Skills and Experience Required
· Minimum 3 years of experience in a combined Draftsperson/Estimator role.
· Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar).
· Strong estimating skills with experience using estimating tools or software.
· Thorough understanding of Australian construction methods, standards, and building codes.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in both drawings and cost estimations.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and suppliers.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
· A proactive, solution-focused, and team-oriented attitude.
