Position Overview

A growing industrial engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in Autodesk Inventor to support custom mechanical layout projects. This role is ideal for experienced CAD professionals with a background in designing conveyor systems, packaging lines, and warehouse automation equipment.

The engineer will collaborate directly with a U.S.-based team (Eastern and Mountain Time zones).


Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed 3D mechanical assemblies using Autodesk Inventor
  • Design and modify parametric parts for custom conveyor layouts and automated packaging equipment
  • Collaborate with in-house engineering team to ensure mechanical integrity and design compliance
  • Support occasional 2D updates or conversions using AutoCAD (minimal use)
  • Deliver models and drawings suitable for manufacturing and internal review
  • Work independently with minimal oversight after initial onboarding

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Autodesk Inventor: 4+ years of hands-on professional experience in industrial mechanical design
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing principles
  • Proven experience designing conveyor systems, material handling equipment, or similar industrial layouts

Nice to Have

  • Experience with AutoCAD (2D drafting only)
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault or similar CAD data management tools
  • Prior experience in packaging, food & beverage, or logistics engineering

Work Setup
  • Start Date: Flexible
  • Shift Overlap: Preferred overlap with U.S. Eastern Time (minimum 2–3 hours)

Required Skills

  • Mechanical Design (Industrial/Conveyors): 3+ years
Additional Skills
  • AutoCAD: 1–2 years (nice to have)
  • Autodesk Vault: 1 year (nice to have)
