QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferably Engineering Graduate
  • Preferably with 3 years experience as Safety Officer in a construction company, well versed

JOB DESCRIPTION

1.) Inspects worksites, reports conditions and practices not in compliance with occupational safety and health standards, codes and regulations

2.) Observes operations and activities, reports unsafe acts and behaviors

3.) Investigates accidents, near misses and safety related problems

4.) Identifies applicable hazards from analysis of accident reports, reports from DMCI and external sources

5.) Identifies elements of DMCI risk management manual not being implemented

6.) Prepares hazard analysis of work methods and procedures

7.) Determines hazards and causes of safety problems

8.) Records hazards and safety concerns discussed in Health and Safety Committee meetings

9.) Evaluates risks of recognized hazards to determine priorities of corrective actions and levels of concern

10.)Communicates promptly high level risks to concerned parties

11.)Recommends to immediately stop operation/activity in case of imminent danger

12.)Recommends to line management/supervision that corrective actions be done to corresponding hazards and problems identified

13.)Reviews the corrective actions of manager/supervisor to ensure compliance with safety standards, codes and regulations. Recommends revisions or improvements as called for

14.)Provides assistance in implementing safety program corrective actions

15.)Conducts safety trainings

16.)Provides safety information, advice and recommendations as required

17.)Sets good safety example at all times

18.)Positively influences management to take required safety

19.)Verifies reports status of action items

  • Inspection reports
  • Observation/Surveillance reports
  • Accident/Incident investigation reports
  • Hazard analysis reports
  • Health and Safety Committee minutes of meeting
  • EHS referral reports

20.)Provides meaningful EHS statistics and performance measurements on a periodic basis

21.)Maintains timely and useful communication with project management and with DMCI EHS Department

22.)Keeps abreast with developments in the safety profession

23.)Keeps updated about construction hazards as obtained from the news media, publications and other forms of communication
