Payroll Analyst

Position: Payroll Analyst (Data & Systems Focus)

Schedule: Dayshift, Monday to Friday

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Payroll Analyst with solid IT and data manipulation skills to support accurate and compliant payroll processing. While FoundU completes payroll interpretation, this role focuses on how payroll data is entered, validated, and analysed to ensure accuracy in employee compensation, tax deductions, and compliance with labor laws.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with data, systems, and troubleshooting issues before they affect payroll outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Preparation & Input

• Gather, validate, and prepare payroll-related data for upload into FoundU.
• Ensure all timekeeping, allowances, classification changes, and employee records are accurate prior to processing.
• Identify and correct data anomalies before payroll runs.

Data Analysis & Validation

• Analyse FoundU outputs, ensuring pay, deductions, accruals, and entitlements are accurate.
• Reconcile discrepancies between source data and system results.
• Investigate variances and apply corrective actions.

Systems & IT-Focused Support

• Use advanced Excel or other data tools to manipulate, clean, and audit payroll data.
• Assist with system configuration, workflows, and process automation within FoundU.
• Support troubleshooting of integration or data flow issues between FoundU and other systems.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure payroll practices align with employment laws, tax regulations, and internal policies.
• Generate recurring and ad-hoc payroll reports (labour costs, overtime, leave liabilities, etc.).
• Support audit activities by providing accurate, well-organised payroll data.

Employee & Stakeholder Support

• Respond to payroll queries and explain calculations clearly and factually.
• Liaise with HR, managers, and finance teams for data updates or issue resolution.

Skills & Experience:

• Solid IT skills - comfortable navigating systems, handling data, and performing basic troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Excel or similar data tools (formulas, pivot tables, basic data cleaning).
• Experience in payroll processing, payroll analysis, or data-heavy administrative roles.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to check and validate payroll data, even if interpretation is automated.
• Experience with payroll or HR systems (FoundU experience is a strong advantage).
