Architectural Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Manages all fundamental aspects and stages of the design process from the formation of the design organization, design conceptualization up to the preparation of the final or detailed engineering design while ensuring that design process and the final product both meet the purpose, quality, schedule, and budget objectives of the Client.

KRA'S ACTIVITIES

Design Strategy Development

1.) Develops and implements design strategies, outlining how the Design Development Team will create deliverables and implement them for the specific or particular project;

2.) Ensures that the members of the design team are fully aware of and understands the design strategy and the corresponding deliverables and milestones;

3.) Presents the design strategy to Infrastructure BU Head for approval and explains the deliverables, numbers and expected outcomes.

Design Development Team Organization and Management

4.) Manages the formation of the Design Development Team for the specific project, identifies the required design scopes; establishes the proposed network of interaction between the design scopes and oversees the selection of the designers or design firms that will be part of the design team;

5.) Manages the Design Development Team composed of several designers and evaluates individual design deliverables and overall team performance;

6.) Analyzes the performance and progress of the Design Development Team and delivers critical feedback where needed;

7.) Initiates and encourages open communication and cooperation among the team members throughout the duration of a project;

Collaboration with Client

8.) Collaborates with the Client or its Representatives regarding their design requirements and other design objectives that must be met;

Design Preparation

9.) Coordinates among members of the Design Development Team the preparation and completion but not limited to the following: · Client's Requirements (or Employer's Requirements) · Concept Design & Preliminary Specifications · Final Engineering Design (or Detailed Engineering Design) · Final Specifications · Design Basis and Calculations · Brochures and Catalogs · Communications/Correspondence (Technical and Contractual) · Design Reports · Design Schedule · Progress/Deliverables Monitoring · Presentations · Technical Requirements for Permits · Bill of Quantities

Design Performance Evaluation

10.)Tracks and evaluates the performance of the design with respect to the Clients design requirements and objectives defined at the start of the design process (involves filtering through customer surveys and responses to focus groups to create an overall picture of how well the design performed);

Job Knowledge

11.) Seeks to update his job knowledge and that of staff under his/her supervision;

12.) Encourages training and the use of support tools that enhance the knowledge, performance and the development of the Design Development Team;

13.)Supports the process of Corporate Social Responsibility;

Professional organizations

14.)Participates in Professional Organizations aligned with his role;

TQM

15.)Actively supports TQM and ISO 9001 – 2015 including Operational Health and Safety as well as Environmental Standards with particular reference to the development of DMCI Standards, Processes and procedures and applicable to the Design Development Team;

Training

16.)Drives the training process of all BU's Design Development Team Staff and assesses levels achieved. Collaborates with relevant parties as needed to achieve agreed targets;

Document Control Library

17.) Ensures the effective use of information gathering in support of data mining and the like, needed to elevate the quality of decision making processes applicable to design development; 18.) Records information as required;

Succession Planning

19.)Collaborates with the BU head and HR to ensure an effective succession plan is implemented;

Meetings

20.)Schedules regular meetings between relevant parties to ensure effective communication is maintained and ensures that accurate records are kept;

People Development

21.) Manages/supervises the BU's Design Development Team Staff; Acts as the resource person to DMCI staff on Design Development related issues;

22.) Assists in strengthening the organization and competencies of the Design Development Team;

23.) Assists management in assessing the training needs and provide training accordingly;
