Overview:

We are looking for a Core Systems Programmer to implement the foundation of mech gameplay for our upcoming mech game project. This role focuses on movement, physics, and controls — ensuring our mechs feel weighty, responsive, and distinct.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop mech movement systems (walking, dashing, jet boosts, turning).

  • Implement physics-based interactions (weight, inertia, collisions, knockback).

  • Tune controls and camera systems to achieve the intended player experience.

  • Prototype variations of mech archetypes (heavy, agile, balanced).

  • Work closely with designers to ensure mech "feel" matches gameplay vision.

  • Optimize core systems for stability and performance in engine (Unity/Unreal).

Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills in C++ (Unreal) or C# (Unity).

  • Experience with movement physics, animation systems, or vehicle/mech-style gameplay.

  • Understanding of gameplay "feel" and how code impacts player experience.

  • Ability to rapidly prototype and iterate based on feedback.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Prior experience in mech, vehicle, or physics-driven projects.

  • Familiarity with inverse kinematics or animation blending for large-scale characters.

  • Knowledge of multiplayer sync for movement systems.
