About this role:
This pivotal role of Bookkeeper is a key position responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our clients, ensuring compliance and accounting standards. You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting transactions of clients, payroll, preparation of BAS statements, Superannuation, Payroll Tax plus more. Being a broad and varied role, this position requires a strong sense of time management and organisational skills, with exposure to many aspects of the accounting function.
Working and functional relationships
- Work closely with the accountants, and Director to complete assignments accurately, according to the organisation's operational manual and standards.
- Ensure work is completed within the specified time frame and alert the Manager where a job is at risk of falling behind schedule prior to the deadline.
- Work towards finding solutions for what you don't know and ask the questions necessary to complete work on time.
- Work as a team with all team members of the organisation and value the individual contribution and abilities of your colleagues.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Financial Management:
- Maintain the day to day accounting transactions
- Preparing monthly accounts
- Reconciling bank accounts
- Perform complex reconciliations
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for various clients.
- Prepare financial statements to trial balance
- Processing payroll and other related payroll tasks for various clients.
Compliance and Tax Support:
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, regulations and accounting standards
- Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, Super, TPAR, STP finalisations, FBT and other tax filings as required
- Collaborate with accountants for year end reporting and audits.
- SMSF processing
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Address client inquiries promptly
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping process and implement efficiencies
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in accounting software.
- And other duties as required

- Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and detailed knowledge of common financial accounting packages.
Education and Experience
- Previous bookkeeping experience
- Knowledge of computers and relevant software applications (Excel, Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks Online)
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritise workflow according to immediate demands in a fast-paced environment
