Key Responsibilities:
Supervision of Production Operations:
Oversee Daily Production Activities
- Supervise and manage the production team to ensure all manufacturing processes are running efficiently and on schedule.
- Monitor production workflows, ensuring proper allocation of resources (staff, materials, equipment) to meet production targets.
- Ensure that production goals, quality standards, and safety regulations are met daily.
Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards
- Enforce safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries in the production area.
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure that all employees are trained on proper handling of machinery and hazardous materials.
- Investigate any incidents or accidents, providing corrective actions and reports.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Monitor product quality at various stages of the production process, ensuring compliance with company standards and specifications.
- Address quality issues and make necessary adjustments to improve production outcomes.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to conduct inspections, audits, and tests on finished products.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, downtime, and quality rates, and report these to upper management.
- Regularly analyze production data and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide regular feedback to production workers to improve efficiency and performance.
Team Leadership and Employee Development:
Staff Supervision and Scheduling
- Assign tasks and shifts to production staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels for each production run.
- Ensure that all workers are well-trained, cross-trained, and follow production procedures.
- Monitor team attendance, performance, and productivity, addressing issues promptly.
Training and Development
- Train new employees on production processes, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Continuously coach and mentor team members to improve skill sets and enhance team performance.
- Lead team meetings and discussions to encourage open communication and share feedback.
Conflict Resolution
- Resolve any conflicts or issues among team members promptly and fairly, fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Serve as the first point of contact for any staff concerns or problems during production.
Production Planning and Coordination:
Production Scheduling and Planning
- Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on demand forecasts and available resources.
- Adjust production schedules as needed to address delays, equipment malfunctions, or urgent orders.
- Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Resource Management
- Ensure that materials, tools, and equipment are available to meet production goals.
- Oversee the use and maintenance of machinery, identifying needs for repairs or upgrades.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, working with the inventory team to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Continuous Improvement:
Process Optimization
- Continuously monitor production processes and look for opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Promote and lead initiatives for process improvements, cost reductions, and waste elimination.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving
- Quickly address any disruptions in production, identifying root causes of delays or quality issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Work with maintenance teams to quickly resolve machinery breakdowns or malfunctions that may impact production timelines.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, employee performance, downtime, and quality inspections.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on production performance, safety incidents, and other relevant metrics to management.
- Ensure proper documentation of all production processes and any changes made to workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
- Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and implement solutions for improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other production software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
