About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Accountant with strong capabilities in Tax and Financial reporting to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who is confident managing a portfolio of clients and delivering high-quality tax compliance, financial reporting, and strategic insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, PAYG, FBT and Payroll Tax returns in compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements.
  • Prepare and review business and individual income tax returns, ensuring full compliance with Australian taxation legislation.
  • Manage end-to-end preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping, AP & AR for clients to support their internal finance & accounts administration
  • Deliver timely and accurate management reports, variance analysis, cash flow projections, and budgeting support.
  • Manage the client's payroll cycle , STP filing & superannuation processing
  • Liaise with clients regarding tax planning, compliance, and financial performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax laws, accounting standards (AASB & IFRS), and compliance obligations.
  • Use Xero and Xero Practice Manager to manage and monitor client portfolios effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to streamline financial operations and improve reporting efficiencies.
  • Monitor and manage lodgement deadlines to ensure full compliance across the portfolio.
  • Ensure all working papers and documentation meet audit and regulatory standards.

Qualification and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a public practice or corporate accounting environment in Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and statutory compliance.
  • Proficient in Xero, with certification highly regarded.
  • Strong capabilities in Excel including data modelling, dashboards, pivot tables, and advanced formulas.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, companies & trust tax return preparation
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Proactive, analytical, and solutions-focused mindset.

Desirable

  • Experience with Xero blue & xero Practice Manager,
  • Experience running Australian payroll & managing Australian payroll tax
  • Previous experience in an Australian accounting practice managing a portfolio of clients
