This position combines landscaping and grounds maintenance with assisting the engineering department in various tasks. The individual will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the hotel grounds while also providing support to the engineering team in maintaining the hotel's physical plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Groundskeeping Duties (approximately 60% of time):

  • Planting, weeding, and mulching flowerbeds and other landscaped areas.
  • Pruning, shaping, and maintaining shrubs, trees, and other plants.
  • Watering plants and lawns as needed, using efficient irrigation techniques.
  • Removing debris and leaves from grounds.
  • Maintaining garden tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Applying pesticides and herbicides as needed, following all safety regulations.
  • Assisting with seasonal planting and cleanup.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of all groundskeeping areas.
  • Identifying and addressing plant diseases and pest infestations.

Engineering Helper Duties (approximately 40% of time):

  • Assisting engineers with routine maintenance tasks (e.g., painting, minor repairs, cleaning).
  • Assisting with the upkeep of HVAC systems (e.g., changing filters, cleaning coils).
  • Assisting with plumbing repairs (e.g., unclogging drains, minor leak repairs).
  • Assisting with electrical tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor electrical repairs – under supervision).
  • Assisting with the maintenance of hotel equipment (e.g., cleaning and basic checks).
  • Transporting materials and equipment to and from work sites.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Coordinating with plant suppliers and vendors.
  • Other duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor from time to time
