About the Role

Next Staffing Group is hiring an experienced, detail-oriented Controller for one of our clients. This candidate will lead all financial and accounting operations. This is a crucial, hands-on leadership role responsible for the accuracy of financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and preparing the company for scalable growth, including the transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

What You'll Do

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Manage all accounting operations, including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Prepare and publish timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report and assist with external audits.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance and recommend new accounting policies as needed.
  • Manage cash flow, treasury functions, and financial forecasting.

Process & System Migration

  • Serve as the accounting lead for the selection, testing, and migration from QuickBooks Online to a new ERP platform.
  • Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and policies to ensure scalable, best-in-class accounting procedures.
  • Document all financial processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Budgeting & Analysis

  • Manage the annual budgeting process and multi-year financial forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization and increased efficiency.
  • Provide financial analysis support for strategic planning, capital expenditure decisions, and contract negotiations.

Compliance

  • Oversee all tax compliance filings (working with external CPAs) and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying abreast of new and existing legislation.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
  • QuickBooks Expertise: Extensive, verifiable experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO), including advanced reporting and system management.
  • ERP Transition: Proven, successful experience leading or significantly participating in the transition and implementation of a new ERP platform (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Technical Accounting: Deep knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Remote Work Tools: Willingness and agreement to use Time Doctor or similar time-tracking/productivity software.
  • Schedule: Must be available to work and communicate during standard U.S. business hours.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce environment.
  • Master's degree in Business or Accounting.
  • Experience managing accounting for multiple legal entities.
