Head of Lab Operations

Exin Therapeutics is a San Francisco–based biotech company building its research and development hub in BGC, Manila. We are developing therapies to restore brain circuits disrupted in neurological and psychiatric disorders, including epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease. We aim to transform the treatment landscape for disorders of the central nervous system.
Our Manila lab will be the cornerstone of Exin's experimental efforts, enabling large-scale in vivo neuroscience and data generation to power drug discovery. We are seeking a head of lab operations to build, organize, and run this new facility. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a lab from the ground up.
Role & Responsibilities
As Lab Manager, you will:
- Oversee daily operations of Exin's wet lab facility, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe workflows.
- Establish and maintain lab infrastructure: ordering, inventory management, equipment maintenance, biosafety compliance.
- Conducting and supporting research operations (behavioral neuroscience, electrophysiology, imaging), including coordination of animal care and experimental scheduling.
- Work closely with scientists and founders to enable rapid and reliable data generation.
- Manage vendors and procurement.
- Train and support lab staff in best practices for safety, record-keeping, and experimental procedures.
- Implement and oversee protocols for regulatory compliance (biosafety, animal welfare, chemical handling).
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in neuroscience, biology, biomedical sciences, or related field.
- Familiarity with basic techniques in molecular biology (PCR, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, histology)
- 2+ years of hands-on wet lab experience, ideally including mouse/rat models.
- Experience with lab management, operations, or facility setup.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with health & safety, biosafety, and animal facility regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership background.
- Good communication skills in English
Preferred:
- Experience in neuroscience labs (e.g., electrophysiology, behavior, imaging, molecular biology).
- Basic programming experience in Python
- Previous involvement in establishing new facilities or scaling lab operations.
- Comfort working in a startup environment: adaptable, resourceful, and proactive.
