EMT Dispatch Assistant

Position Title: Dispatch Assistant

Department: Dispatch Unit, Operations Center

Reports to: Dispatch Unit Head, OpCen Manager

Direct Reports: Dispatch Officer Location: National Headquarters

Purpose Statement

The Dispatch Assistant assigned at the Operations Center works 12 hours a day either night shift or day shift. He/She is responsible for communicating the necessary assistance to people in need. His/Her initial task is to receive emergency calls, assess the situation and provide continuous first aid instructions based on the provided injury until the ambulance team arrives. He/She will also be involved in dispatching emergency response vehicles, in monitoring movement of PRC rolling assets, and in coordinating with hospitals and other partners.

A. System Functionality

• Utilize the cloud-based Dispatch System and make sure that all workstations are running 24/7.
• Directly transcribes the details of the response maintaining accurate records and logs.
• Encodes data in the dispatch system EMS duty, incident and patients details and maintains logs and records of calls, activities, and other dispatch information. Responsible for assisting chapters in tablet log in and system connectivity.

B. Call Management and Pre-arrival Instruction

• Responsible for receiving calls, determining the type of call, redirecting them as needed to concerned services, identifying the level of urgency and prioritizing calls according to its importance.
• Responsible for obtaining necessary info to determine appropriate response and priority by using the EMS protocols.
• Responsible for making sure that the information reported and indicated in the reports and logs are accurate.
• Responsible for providing the first aid management based on the assessment of the situation and the patient's status.

C. Monitoring and Reporting

• Check personnel on-duty availability and functional vehicles that are ready for utilization within their shift through various social platforms.
• Works together with the Operations Assistant in monitoring disasters and accidents via television, email, fax, radio, text message, phone calls and any other platform available.
• Send an endshift report for tablet compliance and GPS connectivity to top management and concerned offices.

D. Mobilizing and Dispatching

• Assists the dispatch officer, as needed, in mobilizing EMS personnel and in calling up auxiliary forces in response

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Qualifications/Minimum Education: Graduate of any program under Bachelor's Degree

● Must be knowledgeable of all Philippine Red Cross standard operating procedures

Work Experience:

● Preferably a trained Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

● Must have at least 1 year working related experience

● Preferably with background in First Aid Management

Equipment Used: Computer, tablet, radio, satphone scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and fax machine

Working Environment: Office-based and Field-based (if needed or deployed)
