Phlebotomist:

  1. Receives and charges physicians' requests thru Hospital BIZBOX system, collects, and labels blood and other specimen from patients.

  2. Performs venipunctures, heel sticks and finger sticks, ensuring proper specimen testing.

  3. Distributes specimen to Laboratory as soon as possible.

  4. Maintains cleanliness of the Phlebotomy room, trays, and blood collection equipment.

  5. Conducts urine collection and encoding of donor's/patients' data for drug test.

  6. Performs swabbing of patients suspected of Covid-19 and patients for admission and those with travel purposes.

Clinical Microscopy:

  1. Performs routine examinations such as urinalysis, fecalysis, semen analysis, pregnancy test (urine/serum), occult blood and examinations of different body fluids.

Bacteriology:

  1. Performs gram stain and AFB stain.

  2. Performs Rapid Covid – 19 Antigen test using test kits.

Serology and Immunology:

  1. Performs the following Immunological tests: Thyroid Functions tests, D-Dimer, Procalcitonin and Ferritin.

  2. Performs the following Serological tests: Test for Salmonella, Dengue, RF test, ASO, CRP with titer and other tests.

Hematology:

  1. Performs CBC (Complete Blood Count), platelet count, blood indices using automated hematology analyzer.

  2. Identifies abnormal cells in peripheral smear and malarial parasites.

  3. Performs other Hematological tests such as ESR, Bleeding time, Clotting Time, Prothrombin Time, APTT and special examination like Reticulocyte count.

Clinical Chemistry:

  1. Performs automated determination of FBS, RBS, PPBS, OGTT, BUN, CREATININE, TRIGYLCERIDES, CHOLESTEROL, PROTEIN, ELECTROLYTES, BLOOD URIC ACID, SGOT, SGPT, ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE, BILIRUBIN, HBAIC, CKMB, TROPONIN-I and others.

Blood Banking

  1. Performs ABO and Rh blood typing using direct and indirect methods.

  2. Performs direct and indirect Coomb's test.

  3. Performs blood cross matching using Broad Spectum Compatibility Test.

  4. Monitors the temperature of freezer and refrigerator containing blood and its components.

  5. Performs and implements quality control program, updating monthly statistics and records of the examinations performed.

  6. Maintains and checks requisitions/inventory of reagents and other supplies.

  7. Performs daily maintenance of the machines and implement preventive maintenance and calibration of machines/equipment.

  8. Keeps and files records of examination results and requests.

  9. Performs specific duties and tasks assigned to him/her as member of various committees of the hospital.

  10. Participates in the division and institutional activities and staff development programs.

  11. Maintains confidentiality of patients' records/information at all times.

  12. Participates in Hospital activities and programs that keep the environment clean, safe and free from hazards and risks by observing proper waste segregation and disposal, maintaining air, conserving water and energy and implementing safety measures and devices to prevent and incidents in the workplaces.

  13. Performs other duties necessary for the effective operation of the department/ward/unit.
