Job Overview:

Riptide Outsourcing is hiring a Shopify Developer to build and maintain eCommerce websites for our high-growth clients. You'll turn completed designs into live Shopify pages, implement front-end customizations using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and ensure fast-loading, responsive pages across devices.

This role is central to delivering a seamless user experience, supporting marketing campaigns, and driving client growth, requiring close collaboration with designers and proactive problem-solving on multiple projects.

1. Web Development

• Develop, maintain, and optimize Shopify 2.0 storefronts and landing pages using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to ensure responsive, conversion-driven user experiences.
• Customize and extend Shopify themes to support new layouts, product templates, or app integrations aligned with each brand's needs.
• Implement updates and bug fixes within Shopify's environment, ensuring consistent functionality across devices and browsers.

2. Design Implementation

• Utilize Shopify Liquid to build dynamic sections, reusable components, and logic-based customizations that enhance site functionality.
• Collaborate with designers to translate Figma or Photoshop layouts into Shopify-native experiences while maintaining design fidelity and fast load performance.
• Integrate and configure Shopify apps, third-party scripts, and APIs to improve site capabilities without compromising stability.

3. Quality & Optimization

• Conduct regular testing within Shopify's staging and live environments to identify and resolve performance, layout, or compatibility issues.
• Optimize front-end elements for speed, accessibility, and SEO, monitoring improvements through analytics and platform tools.
• Stay up to date with Shopify 2.0 features, Liquid updates, and new best practices—proactively recommending enhancements that improve workflow or storefront performance.

Must-Have Qualification:

• Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks like React, TailwindCSS, or
• Strong understanding of responsive web design principles, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
• Ability to translate completed design files (Figma, Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator) into fully functional, pixel-accurate Shopify pages.
• Experience working with page builders or themes within Shopify and adjusting front-end code as needed for custom layouts.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Proven experience building or customizing websites on Shopify (preferably Shopify 2.0) using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience developing or maintaining pages on other platforms such as WordPress, CheckoutChamp, or Vercel.
• Understanding of conversion-focused eCommerce design principles and UX/UI best practices.
• Basic understanding of Shopify app integrations, APIs, and dynamic sections within the 2.0 architecture.

Our Recruitment Process

We keep our hiring process structured but straightforward, so you'll know exactly what to expect at each stage:

1. Deep Dive Interview with Recruiter - A 15 to 30 minute conversation focused on your career journey, past roles, accomplishments, and what you are looking for next. This helps us understand your background and alignment with the role.

2. Trial Project Assessment - At this stage, you'll get to demonstrate your skills through a sample project that uses real data or scenarios from our operations. This stage usually takes one of two forms.

• Audit: You may be asked to review a campaign and apply the IDS method (Identify issues, Discuss your observations, and Suggest solutions).
• Skills Output: You may be asked to create a sample deliverable that reflects the role, such as drafting a VSL script, writing email responses, or producing a short-form video.
• All trial projects are covered by a simple NDA to protect both you and the company. It ensures our data remains confidential and also makes clear that your work will only be used for evaluation purposes unless we hire you or we both agree in writing with fair compensation.
• We also ask that most trial projects be submitted with a short Loom video. This is not about teaching us how you did the work but about explaining why you made certain decisions and how you approached the task.

3. Final Interview with Hiring Manager - The last step is a conversation with the hiring manager. Together, you'll go through your trial project output and discuss how your experience, ideas, and working style can make an impact in the role if you're selected. This stage is less about formal Q&A and more about exploring fit, collaboration, and vision.
