We are seeking an initiative-taking and highly driven accounting professional to join our Client Accounting Services team as an Associate or a Senior Associate. In this role, you will serve US clients and will work on various projects such as processing billing, collections and vendor payments, completing accounts reconciliations and analysis, preparing journal entries, participating in month-end financial close process, preparing schedules required for clients' financial statement audits and reviewing financial transactions for reasonableness, accuracy and completeness. The ideal candidate will have well-rounded skillsets to be able to manage a variety of tasks and situations effectively and adapt to the rigors and challenges associated with client work. The person in this position will work remotely from the Philippines under normal Philippine work hours.
Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge of accounting principles in processing and recording financial transactions.
- Assist in the day-to-day function for clients' accounts receivable and grant receivable process such as timely and accurate billing, collections, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Assist in the day-to-day function for clients' accounts payable cycle such as making sure that bills are properly supported and approved for payment before processing payment. Also, data entry, properly classifying payments to accounts and monitoring unpaid bills.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries, and ensuring accurate posting of transactions.
- Review of account transactions for reasonableness, accuracy, and completeness.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations and analysis, including bank reconciliations, subsidiary ledger to general ledger balance reconciliations, vendor reconciliations, customer reconciliations, intercompany account reconciliations, accounts receivable/payable aging analysis, prepaid expense analysis, inventory reconciliations and analysis, analysis of deposits, fixed asset roll forward analysis and depreciation/amortisation schedule, note payable amortisation schedule, accrual calculations, and suspense account analysis.
- Perform certain payroll-related tasks including payroll data entry for hours worked, payroll processing subject to client approval, post-payroll retirement contribution submissions, recording of payroll activity on the books, payroll accruals and analysis.
- Prepare month-end close financial workbook with supporting documentation and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of schedules and analysis required by auditors for annual audit of clients' financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of tax schedules required by tax preparers at year-end.
- Support other month-end and year-end close processes such as aiding in the preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and budgets, as required.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to improve the financial statement and internal control processes, as necessary.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Proven track record in client service or in bookkeeping preferably with at least 3 years of combined experience in public accounting and in the private sector as an accountant
- Minimum of 1 year of public accounting experience required
- Minimum of 2 years of private sector accounting experience required
- Experience in an international company environment a plus
- An active CPA licence is preferred although comparable professional experience is also acceptable
- Willing to work remotely under normal Philippine work hours
- Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, , Ramp, Financial Edge, MIP Fund Accounting, etc.) and knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail
- Highly organised and ability to accomplish multiple tasks, projects, and goals
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
