Data Engineer - Kafka

Location: Onsite - BGC, Taguig

Schedule: Shifting (must be amenable as required)

About the Role

We are looking for an Expert-Level Data/Integration Engineer with deep experience in Apache Kafka administration. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of the organization's integration platforms. This role includes Kafka engineering/build work, platform management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end administration of Apache Kafka, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Perform Kafka engineering/build tasks such as cluster setup, upgrades, scaling, and enhancements.
  • Maintain platform stability through patching, vulnerability fixes, and cost optimization.

  • Manage and support additional integration platforms:

  • IBM MQ

  • IBM ACE
  • Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM)
  • MeshIQ
  • Stonebranch File Transfer
  • Handle implementation, build, run, and support activities for integration systems.
  • Develop automation scripts and workflows (Python, Shell, Ansible).
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team.
  • Lead incident management and root-cause analysis.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, including weekend support when required.
Key Requirements
  • Expert-level hands-on experience in Apache Kafka administration (main requirement).
  • Strong background in Kafka engineering/build work with vendors (cluster setup, upgrades, scaling).
  • Experience managing the following integration technologies: IBM MQ, IBM ACE, MIM, MeshIQ, Stonebranch.
  • Experience with performance tuning, incident resolution, and troubleshooting in complex environments.
  • Experience in automation or scripting (Python, Shell, Ansible).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willing to work in shifting schedules and join on-call rotations.
Preferred Skills
  • Certifications in Kafka or IBM Integration tools
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools
