The Assistant Purchasing Manager is a critical role within Leslie - FSD's Materials Management Division (MMD). The APM is responsible for supporting the Purchasing Manager in overseeing the strategic direction, operational efficiency of the team. This role leads a team of category managers, leads in ensuring optimal procurement processes, and driving cost savings while maintaining quality standards.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Collaborates with the Purchasing Manager to develop and implement the overall purchasing strategy, aligning it with Leslie's business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, supply chain dynamics, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies aligned with MMDs objectives and key results.
  • Set clear category goals and KPIs to measure performance.

Product Sourcing and Procurement

  • Guides and leads category managers in identifying and source of new products to meet evolving customer needs.
  • Oversees and/or leads supplier evaluations and selection processes.
  • Ensures timely and efficient procurement of goods.
  • Oversees Raw and Non- Raw Material sourcing and procurement that may be assigned
  • Works closely with the PM to create initiatives and programs to complete /delivery of major purchases, store constructions and other purchasing related acquisitions in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates acquisition bids from suppliers and oversees bid openings, evaluates bid submissions and assesses award recommendations by the category managers.

Procurement Operations

  • Oversees the day-to-day procurement operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement, such as cost savings, supplier performance, and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Negotiates favorable contracts and pricing agreements.
  • Administers compliance on contracts.
  • Monitors supplier performance and addresses any issues promptly.
  • Conducts supplier evaluation and business review.

Team Leadership and People Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of category managers, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, empower team members, and provide necessary support.

Cost Management and Savings Initiatives

  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as supplier consolidation, volume discounts, and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Analyze cost trends and variances, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor and control procurement expenses within budget constraints.
  • Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

Risk Management

  • Assesses and mitigates potential risks in the supply chain, such as supplier disruptions, quality issues, and price fluctuations.
  • Develops contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyzes procurement data to generate insightful reports on spending, savings, and supplier performance.
  • Provides financial forecasts for MMD.
  • Collaborates with other teams to ensure accurate reporting

Quality Assurance

  • Establishes and maintains quality standards for all products.
  • Conducts regular quality inspections and audits.
  • Collaborates with quality control teams to resolve any quality issues.

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of any 4 year course
  • Must have 10+ years experience in purchasing.
  • At least 5 years experience in supervisory or managerial positions, supervising a team of category managers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php50, Php80,000.00 per month
