Job Summary:

The Job Summary:

The Construction Safety Officer (CSO) is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines on construction sites. The CSO monitors operations to eliminate hazardous activities, develops safety policies, and promotes a culture of safety awareness among workers. The goal is to ensure a safe working environment and prevent injuries, accidents, and work-related illnesses.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Enforce compliance with OHS policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations to workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of safety audits, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote safe work practices.
  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure the site complies with all applicable codes and standards.
  • Stay updated with the latest OHS legislation, best practices, and industry trends.

Qualifications:
  • COSH HOLDER. A Bachelor's degree Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and practices.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and authoritative in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in incident reporting tools and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Willing to be relocated from other sites or projects.

  • Outdoor construction site environment; exposure to weather and loud noise.
  • Use of PPE required at all times.

  • Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations to workers and subcontractors.

  • Collaborate with site supervisors, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote safe work practices.

Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or equivalent (COSH, BOSH, LCM, HIRAC
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and practices.
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and authoritative in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficient in incident reporting tools and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Has an experience on a factory setup.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Ensure to comply daily adequate Permit To work to all activities.

-Ensure all permits-to-work (e.g., hot work, confined space, lifting) are properly issued and monitored.

-Do daily tool box meetings and tackle the current activities onsite.

-Ensure and encourage all team members will attend General Tool box meeting and Internal toolbox meetings.

-Onsite checking and validating of safety measures onsite.

-Assess and implement safety of site and workers onsite.

-Ensure that all PPE are well maintained and properly use by all personnel that will enter the site.

-Create and submit all daily, weekly and monthly reports.

-Do proper coordination with all team members of the projects.

-Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments prior to work commencement.

-Perform regular site safety inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.

-Do proper Safety Coaching to Prevent Unsafe acts and Unsafe Behavior.

-Install adequate Safety signages on site.

-Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes.

-Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.

-Ensure immediate corrective actions are taken to prevent reoccurrence.

-Promote a strong safety culture through continuous awareness campaigns and employee engagement.

-Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.

-Advise management and supervisors on safety improvements and hazard control.

-Encourage workers to report unsafe conditions and participate in safety programs.

-Lead by example by maintaining safe work habits and enforcing discipline when necessary.
