Hydraulics Technician Job Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a Hydraulic Technician with expertise in hoses, fittings, and the repair of hydraulic cylinders and pumps. This individual will play a crucial role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic systems for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection and Diagnosis:

  • Inspect hydraulic systems, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps, to identify issues such as leaks, damage, or wear.
  • Diagnose failures in hydraulic pumps and cylinders, recommending necessary repairs or replacements.

Repair and Maintenance:

  • Repair or replace hydraulic hoses, fittings, and associated components as required.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and repair hydraulic cylinders, including resealing, honing, and component replacement.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic pumps, including gear, vane, and piston pumps.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance for all hydraulic components, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.

Assembly and Installation:

  • Fabricate and assemble hydraulic hose assemblies using crimping machines.
  • Install repaired or new hydraulic cylinders and pumps, ensuring proper alignment and torque specifications.
  • Verify the integrity of all installations with pressure testing and diagnostics.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

  • Use diagnostic tools to evaluate hydraulic system performance, including pressure, flow, and temperature testing.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic-related issues, including pump cavitation, cylinder drift, or inefficient system operation.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed service records, including the diagnosis, repairs, parts replaced, and testing outcomes.
  • Prepare professional service reports for clients.

Customer Interaction:

  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and explain repair processes.
  • Provide advice on proper hydraulic system maintenance to prevent future issues.

Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all workplace safety standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safe handling of tools and components.Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education:

  • Technical/vocational diploma or certification in hydraulics, mechanical engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Hydraulic Technician with a focus on hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps.

  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic pumps and cylinders.
  • Skilled in fabricating and installing hydraulic hose assemblies.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic systems, including hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pump mechanics.

  • Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools, crimping machines, and precision measurement instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings.

Work Environment

  • Tools and Equipment: Use of crimping machines, precision measuring tools, hydraulic testing equipment, and standard mechanical tools.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to client sites for on-site repairs and maintenance.
