Key Responsibilities

  • Operating Equipment: Maneuver heavy machinery such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, loaders, and dump trucks to move earth, grade land, and transport materials.
  • Maintenance and Inspection: Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning, check fluid levels, and conduct preventative maintenance to keep machinery in optimal safety and performance conditions.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety regulations and procedures on the job site, and effectively communicate any malfunctions or abnormal working conditions to supervisors.
  • Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by digging trenches, leveling terrain, and clearing areas for construction.
  • Team Coordination: Communicate with supervisors and other team members, often using hand signals or radios, to coordinate movements and ensure efficient workflow.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Possess good mechanical skills and a basic understanding of vehicle inspection and maintenance.
  • Coordination and Vision: Exhibit steady hands and feet, excellent coordination, and sharp vision for precise and confident control of the machinery.
  • Physical Stamina: Be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods and handle tasks requiring strength, climbing, digging, and working in tight or uneven spaces.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with supervisors, team members, and other workers on the job site.
  • Certifications: May require a commercial driver's license (CDL) for operating certain vehicles or machinery, as well as a Department of Labor (DOL) card for OSHA training.
  • Back ground as Mechanic is an advantage
