
Nursing Program Chairperson

The Program Chairperson for Nursing provides academic and administrative leadership to ensure the effective delivery of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in accordance with CHED policies, institutional goals, and standards of quality nursing education. The Chair oversees curriculum development, faculty performance, student outcomes, accreditation compliance, and continuous program improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Academic Leadership
- Oversee the implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the BSN curriculum in line with CHED Memorandum Orders and institutional objectives.
- Ensure that instructional delivery and clinical practice adhere to professional nursing standards and outcomes-based education (OBE).
- Recommend teaching assignments and faculty loading within the program.
- Lead program meetings and coordinate academic planning with faculty and administrators.
B. Quality Assurance and Accreditation
- Prepare documentation and reports for CHED, ISO, or accrediting bodies (e.g., PAASCU, ALCUCOA).
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant nursing education standards, policies, and outcomes indicators.
- Conduct regular program assessment and initiate continuous quality improvement activities.
C. Faculty Development and Supervision
- Supervise and mentor faculty members within the Nursing Program.
- Facilitate training, research, and professional development activities for faculty and clinical instructors.
- Evaluate faculty performance and recommend improvement plans when necessary.
D. Student Development and Support
- Oversee student advising, retention, and progression within the BSN program.
- Address academic and behavioral concerns of nursing students in coordination with the Dean and Guidance Office.
- Promote student participation in community health programs, clinical practice, and co-curricular activities.
E. Administrative Functions
- Manage program schedules, syllabi submissions, instructional materials, and class monitoring.
- Coordinate with affiliated hospitals, community health centers, and partner institutions for clinical placements and related activities.
- Participate in institutional committees, planning, and policy formulation as assigned by the Dean or VPAA.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Must be a Registered Nurse.
- Must hold at least a Master's Degree in Nursing (MAN, MSN, or equivalent).
- Preferably with a Doctorate in Nursing or related field (or currently pursuing one).
Experience:
- At least 3–5 years of teaching experience in Nursing education, with demonstrated leadership or administrative experience (e.g., as Clinical Coordinator, Program Coordinator, or Department Head).
- Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and quality assurance preferred.
- Clinical experience in a hospital or community health setting is an advantage.
Licensure:
- Must possess a valid PRC Nursing License.
Competencies:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent grasp of CHED CMO No. 15 s Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for BS Nursing).
- Proficient in outcomes-based education, research supervision, and digital learning tools.
- Ability to foster a culture of academic excellence, integrity, and collaboration.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Employment Status: Full-time, with teaching and administrative load as determined by the Dean and VPAA.
- Work Schedule: Weekdays and occasional Saturdays as needed for program supervision or activities.
- Reports Directly To: Dean, School of Nursing
