Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Structural Design Engineer – Photovoltaics (Design + Construction) based in Manila, allowing some work-from-home flexibility. The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for conducting structural analysis, performing structural and civil engineering tasks, and utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and AutoCAD software. The role involves designing and constructing photovoltaic systems, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating closely with project teams to deliver efficient and resilient solar energy infrastructure.

We are looking for a design engineer capable of calculating structures and foundations, providing design criteria, and verifying the correct execution of work on site. You will be responsible for ensuring the technical feasibility and constructability of utility-scale projects (trackers and fixed structures), from conceptual engineering to commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Structural calculation
  of tracker systems and fixed structures: shaped steel profiles, bolted/welded joints, buckling, fatigue, and vibrations.
• Foundations and geotechnics:
  dimensioning and verification of solutions (direct driving, predrilling, helical piles, micropiles, footings), soil-structure interaction, and validation of geotechnical campaigns.
• Loads and regulations:
  application of wind, snow, and seismic loads according to Eurocodes/EN, and adaptation to local regulations (e.g., ASCE 7, NTC, etc.).
• Design documentation:
  reports, calculation notes, plans, bills of materials (BOM), and inspection criteria (ITPs).
• Site supervision:
  dimensional and quality control, validation of pile driving/pre-drilling, tensile tests, handling of non-conformities, and coordination with contractors.
• Risk monitoring:
  constructability analysis, technical schedule, lessons learned, and as-built closure.

Requirements

• Education:
  Civil Engineering/Structures/Geotechnical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience:
  2–3 years in metal structure and foundation calculations, ideally in utility-scale PV projects.
• Software:
  CYPE 3D, Consteel, Ansys, Lpile, AutoCad, SolidWorks and/or similar.
• Regulations:
  Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations in Asia, LATAM, Europe, etc.
• Construction:
  Experience in verifying pile driving, installation, pull-out tests, layout, and QA/QC control.
• Languages:
  Professional
  English
  (min. B2).
• Mobility:
  Availability for short trips to construction sites and factories/suppliers.

We will also value (nice to have)

• Experience in the design of
  solar trackers and fixed photovoltaic structures
  .
• Knowledge of soil mechanics, calculation of foundations in direct pile driving, predrill, helical and screw piles.
• Knowledge of cold-formed steels (e.g.,
  S350GD
  and
  ZM
  coatings), bolted joints, and corrosion criteria.
• Experience in supervision, quality control in photovoltaic projects, and pull-out tests.
