Product Development Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Research & Development:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends in the coffee, beverage, and food industry.

  • Analyze competitor menus, pricing, and strategies to identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • Develop and test new recipes for coffee, specialty beverages, pastries, sandwiches, and other food items.
  • Source and evaluate new ingredients and suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with brand values (e.g., sustainability, local sourcing).
  • Manage the product development pipeline, from initial concept to final recipe approval.

  • Project Management & Collaboration:

  • Lead new product development projects, working closely with marketing to define product positioning and launch strategies.

  • Collaborate with the operations and barista teams to ensure new products are easy to prepare, consistent, and meet quality standards.
  • Work with the supply chain and finance teams to forecast ingredient needs, manage costs, and set pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap, prioritizing new initiatives based on market demand, business goals, and resource availability.

  • Quality Control & Improvement:

  • Establish and maintain quality standards for all products, conducting regular evaluations and taste tests.

  • Monitor product performance post-launch, analyzing sales data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement or potential retirement.
  • Troubleshoot product-related issues and implement solutions to ensure consistency and quality across all locations.
  • Keep up-to-date with food safety regulations and industry best practices.

  • Training & Documentation:

  • Create detailed product specifications, including recipes, preparation methods, and ingredient lists.

  • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on new products and menu changes.
  • Ensure all product documentation is accurate and accessible to the relevant teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a product development or culinary role, preferably within the coffee, restaurant, or food and beverage industry.
  • Strong understanding of coffee brewing methods, flavor profiles, and current coffee trends.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and market trends.
  • Creative and innovative mindset with a passion for food and beverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
