  • Job Overview

The Information Security Advisor is responsible for ensuring the protection of organisational information, systems, and physical assets. This role encompasses implementing security measures, monitoring compliance with policies, and managing information and physical security at the local level.

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Information Security
  • Implement and enforce information security policies and procedures
  • Monitor access to sensitive data and systems, ensuring compliance with security protocols
  • Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate potential security threats
  • Respond to and manage information security incidents, including breaches or data loss
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper configuration and security of hardware and software
  • Stay updated on information security trends and threats to recommend proactive measures.
  • Physical Security
  • Oversee the security of the office premises, including access control systems, surveillance, and emergency response procedures
  • Coordinate with security personnel or external security providers to ensure safety and protection of physical assets
  • Conduct regular security audits of facilities and implement improvements
  • Develop and manage evacuation plans, fire drills, and emergency preparedness protocols.
  • Compliance and Training
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and organisational regulations related to data protection and security
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on information security, data privacy, and physical security protocols
  • Maintain records of security incidents, audits, and training sessions.
  • Risk Management
  • Assess and address potential risks to information and physical assets
  • Develop and implement contingency plans for security breaches or emergencies
  • Provide reports and recommendations to management on improving security measures.
  • Skills
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and technologies
  • Familiarity with physical security systems and emergency protocols
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and training abilities.
  • Qualifications
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Security Management, or a related field.
  • Experience
  • Entry-level position 1-2 years of experience in IT or information security, (preferred but not required).
