Work Schedule: Monday to Friday | 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM PH Time
Classification: Full-Time
Job Summary:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves reviewing project specifications, drawings, and tender documents; performing detailed quantity take-offs; and developing cost proposals for materials, labor, and subcontractor services. The Electrical Estimator works closely with the engineering and project management teams to ensure all estimates align with company standards, client requirements, and budget expectations.
Key Responsibilities and Day-to-Day Tasks:
- Project Review & Analysis:
Review and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and tender documents to assess project scope, design intent, and technical requirements.
- Quantity Take-Offs & BOQ Preparation:
Perform accurate quantity take-offs and prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, grounding, fire alarms, and control systems.
- Cost Estimation:
Develop comprehensive and competitive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope and market rates.
- Tender Management:
Prepare and manage tender submissions, ensuring all documentation is complete, compliant, and submitted within deadlines. Coordinate with project and engineering teams for clarification of technical details.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination:
Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring that proposals meet project requirements, specifications, and design intent.
- Software & Documentation:
Utilize estimating software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Trimble, PlanSwift, SimPRO, or equivalent platforms for digital take-offs, cost tracking, and document control. Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates, drawings, and correspondence.
- Value Engineering:
Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose alternative materials or methods without compromising quality, safety, or compliance with design standards.
- Project Handover Support:
Ensure timely collection and submission of as-built drawings and handover documentation from contractors to clients upon project completion.
- Collaboration & Reporting:
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams to align estimates with execution plans. Provide regular progress updates and cost analysis reports to management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating roles, preferably within the electrical contracting or construction industry.
- Experience in HVAC systems is considered a strong advantage.
- Skilled in the use of estimating software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Trimble, PlanSwift, SimPRO, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and construction methods.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
