As our Controller for multiple high-growth startups and early-stage businesses, you will work directly with company founders and their teams to become a trusted advisor. Our ideal candidate is a proactive, solution and detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in a diverse and fast-paced environment. In this role, you'll demonstrate proficiency in managing multiple client projects at once, while overseeing and supporting an onshore and offshore team of accountants.What You'll Do:Lead a full-cycle accounting close:Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statementsAble to analyze financial reports and communicate results to foundersAct as the point of contact for external auditors and tax preparersOversee all bookkeeping, reconciliations, and accrual journal entriesAccounts Receivable (invoicing, collections)Accounts Payable (processing bills, setting up vendors)Payroll (set-up, processing, and benefits)Purchase order, inventory, and warehouse managementExperience in accounting for inventory and COGS (bill of materials, inventory assemblies, cost accounting)Build financial models, budgets, and cash forecastsProficiency in three-statement financial modelingAble to build cash and accrual-based forecastsImplement and use various accounting software solutionsAccounting ERPs (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite)Expense management (Expensify, Ramp, Concur, Bill)Billing (Ramp, Bill)Payroll (Gusto, JustWorks, Trinet, ADP)Sales platforms (Shopify, Amazon FBA)Merchant service platforms (Stripe, PayPal)Inventory software (Cin7, Fishbowl, SOS)Demonstrate a strong accounting background and knowledge of GAAPRevenue Recognition (ASC606)Prepaid and Accrued ExpensesDeferred RevenueFixed Assets and DepreciationLease AccountingStock-Based CompensationBusiness CombinationsInventory, Manufacturing, Cost AccountingManage the tax process and maintain compliance with government agencies (working with tax partners)Annual federal income tax returns (C Corp, LLC, S Corp)Annual State Filings and Franchise TaxesLocal Business Registrations & ComplianceDepreciation, Amortization, and requisite schedulesSales and Use TaxR&D Tax CreditsNet Operating Losses (NOLs)W9/1099 and W8/1042 implementation and executionWhat you'll bring:Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferredA concentration in Accounting or Finance is preferred10+ years of applicable experience in tech, CPG, and life science industriesBig 4 or national and regional accounting experience preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP, accounting theory, principles, and practicesCPA preferredMicrosoft Office proficiencyStrong communication skillsStrong time management skills
