Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Controller who can both understand financial strategy and perform day-to-day transactional accounting. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who understands U.S. accounting standards, enjoys maintaining clean books, and can produce accurate financial statements while also performing AP/AR and journal entries.

This role is fully remote and will not interface with clients.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations:

·       Perform all transactional accounting, including A/P, A/R, deposits, credit card coding, and journal entries

·       Maintain an accurate general ledger and chart of accounts

·       Manage weekly check runs and vendor payments

·       Monitor accounts receivable and support collections efforts

Month-End Close:

·       Prepare and execute a monthly close checklist

·       Reconcile all balance sheet accounts (bank, credit cards, loans, accruals, intercompany, etc.)

·       Prepare adjusting, accrual, and amortization entries

·       Deliver timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

Reporting & Analysis:

·       Review monthly financials and identify unusual variances

·       Assist with budget-to-actual reporting

·       Maintain internal financial reporting package (KPIs, metrics, performance summaries)

Internal Controls & Compliance:

·       Ensure U.S. GAAP–compliant accounting policies

·       Maintain documentation for year-end CPA reviews or audits

·       Prepare 1099 reporting and sales tax reporting (if applicable)

Cash Management:

·       Support weekly cash flow forecasting

·       Monitor liquidity needs, vendor terms, and short-term financial obligations

Process Improvement:

·       Recommend improvements to the accounting workflow

·       Implement automation tools within QuickBooks

·       Create and maintain SOPs for recurring accounting processes

Qualifications

· years of accounting experience; Controller or Accounting Manager experience preferred

·       Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP

·       Experience with QuickBooks Desktop/Online, or similar accounting software

·       Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements

·       Strong Excel and reconciliation skills

·       Must be willing to perform transactional duties

·       High attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity
