Job Summary
The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day accounting activities. This role involves recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, supporting tax preparation, and assisting with monthly and annual financial closings. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in basic accounting principles and financial compliance.
Job Responsibilities
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process accurately and on time.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform monthly account reconciliations.
- Monitor and reconcile bank statements and company accounts to ensure data accuracy.
- Prepare and file statutory tax returns such as VAT, withholding tax, and income tax in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation, filing, and organization of financial records for easy retrieval and audit readiness.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial regulations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of necessary schedules and reports.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documentation, reconciliations, and clarifications
Job Qualifications
- XERO certified/ XERO expertise.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Familiar with SYFT and/ or Fathom software.
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role managing intercompany positions.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of local tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
