Process Engineer

About the role

JFE Engineering Corp. Philippine Branch is seeking a talented and experienced Process Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. As a Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, optimising, and maintaining efficient processes at our water reclamation facility in Quezon City, Metro Manila. What you'll be doing

PROCESS DESIGN WORK

1) Process engineering design development in accordance with Employer's Requirements, technical standards/guidelines, and relevant literature, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining technical compliance with client specifications and following good engineering practice.

2) Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements based on project technical specifications and government mandates.

3) Preparation of basic design documents such as mass balance calculation, process calculation, process flow diagram, hydraulic profile, P&ID from design conditions in influent/effluent qualities and flow loads for water or wastewater treatment plant.

4) Compute utility consumptions including power, chemical and sludge disposal to estimate the operational expenditure.

5) Lead and participate in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies with clients and third-party facilitators, ensuring comprehensive process safety review and risk assessment while providing technical expertise and process knowledge.

6) Preparation of the operation and maintenance manual, final process design and operations documents.

7) Evaluate work to determine gaps, risks, and opportunities to prioritize design efforts and achieve maximum efficiency.

8) Interact with Engineering Manager, mechanical, civil, electrical and control systems discipline engineer.

9) Keep up to date with latest technologies, design tools & guidelines and developments within the water treatment field and from local / international suppliers.

10) Responsible for creating technical reports as required by direct supervisor.

11) Directly coordinate with the HQ Engineer on Process Design and Engineering if required.

12) Performs other job-related duties that may be assigned by superior from time to time.

PLANT COMMISSIONING AND OPERATION WORK

1) Preparation and conduct of tests and commissioning and Operation of the treatment facilities - water, or wastewater.

2) Prepare commissioning and Operation (Process Proving Period) plans including schedule and costs.

3) Organize commissioning and Operation team with necessary tools and equipment.

4) Manage and supervise daily activities by coordinating with process, mechanical, electrical and automation engineers.

5) Conduct sampling analysis for the evaluation of the process performance.

6) Prepare records and documents for reporting.

7) Evaluate the performance in reference to the process design and operational expenditure

8) Delivery all the relevant documents from the design by incorporating As-built status.

9) Communicate and coordinate effectively with all stakeholders (clients, suppliers, consultants, and contractors) during commissioning and operation phases, providing timely and accurate technical reports, performance data, and operational updates to ensure transparent project execution and stakeholder satisfaction.

10) Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development on site.

11) Provide clear and concise direction and training of personnel/operators.

12) Directly report to the Process Group Manager on Process Design and Engineering and on issues concerning project tests & commissioning and operations.

What we're looking for

Required Qualifications

1. Fluent business level of verbal and written communication skills in English.
2. Ability to effectively interact with others and work independently.
3. Familiarity with MS Office software.
4. Strong personality, positive attitude and ability to work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines.
5. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineer.
6. Minimum of 5 years' experience in related field.
7. Preferably with experience in wastewater treatment plant projects.
