The Quantity Surveyor-Estimator in the Estimates Department is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction and engineering projects. This role involves analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documents to develop material take-offs, cost breakdowns, and tender submissions in support of project bidding and planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Preparation & Costing
  • Prepare detailed bill of quantities (BOQ) based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Perform material take-offs and quantify resources needed for each project.
  • Develop cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed cost plans and cost analysis reports.
  • Tender and Bid Submissions
  • Assist in preparing competitive bid documents and cost proposals for tenders.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and validate pricing.
  • Analyze variations in pricing and value engineering proposals.
  • Technical Coordination
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure cost estimates align with project timelines and scope.
  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as required.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain a database of historical cost data for use in future estimates.
  • Prepare project cost reports, bid summaries, and risk assessments.
  • Assist in post-tender clarifications and pricing adjustments.
  • Compliance and Standards
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry best practices in cost estimation.
  • Review contract documents and identify potential risks, cost overruns, or scope gaps.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

Experience

2–5 years relevant experience in cost estimation, preferably in construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors

Certifications (preferred)

Licensed Civil Engineer (PRC)

Soft Skills

Strong analytical, attention to detail, communication, and time management skills

Knowledge

Familiar with standard methods of measurement, local pricing trends, construction materials, and labor practices
