Position Summary

The Art Director – SketchUp Specialist is responsible for leading the creative design and visualization of projects by combining strong artistic direction with advanced 3D modeling and rendering skills using SketchUp. This role ensures that concepts are translated into accurate, innovative, and visually compelling designs that align with client requirements, brand standards, and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership

  • Lead the creative process from concept to execution for design, events, activations, and fabrication projects.
  • Develop creative strategies, mood boards, and design directions in collaboration with clients and internal teams.
  • Provide artistic guidance to designers, visualizers, and production staff.

Design & Visualization

  • Create detailed 3D models, layouts, and renderings using SketchUp (and related plug-ins or rendering software).
  • Produce accurate space planning, stage/set design, booth design, and environmental layouts.
  • Translate client briefs and marketing objectives into compelling visual outputs.

Project Collaboration

  • Work closely with accounts, production, and fabrication teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy of designs.
  • Review and approve design outputs before presentation to clients.
  • Participate in client presentations and articulate design rationale effectively.

Quality & Standards

  • Ensure all designs meet brand guidelines, creative standards, and technical specifications.
  • Stay updated with design trends, software tools, and materials relevant to the industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Architecture, Industrial Design, Multimedia Arts, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in art direction or creative leadership, preferably in advertising, events, or fabrication industry.
  • Expert proficiency in SketchUp (with V-Ray, Enscape, or other rendering plug-ins).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing event setups, booths, stages, or spatial/environmental design.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and MS Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong eye for detail, color, lighting, and design aesthetics.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
