Job Title: Senior Merchandise Manager

Department: Merchandising

Reports to: Category Head


I. Job Summary

The Senior Merchandise Manager is responsible for developing and executing category business strategies to achieve sales, profitability, and growth targets. This role oversees category planning, assortment management, vendor relations, and team development to ensure the company's merchandising objectives are met.


II. Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Lead the development, management, and growth of assigned categories.
  2. Achieve category sales, margin, and profitability targets.
  3. Manage product assortments and category portfolios, ensuring a balanced and competitive offering.
  4. Introduce new collections and source merchandise to refresh assortments while rationalizing underperforming items.
  5. Drive gross profit growth through effective pricing and promotional strategies.
  6. Monitor inventory levels, recommend rationalization, and implement strategies for optimal inventory turnover.
  7. Analyze category performance and recommend initiatives to improve sales and profitability.
  8. Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate for improved terms, discounts, and offers, and maintain strong supplier partnerships.
  9. Mentor, train, and develop Category Managers and Buyers to build a high-performing team.

V. Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
  2. Relevant experience in buying, merchandising, purchasing, or brand management within food retail or related industries.

  4. MBA preferred.
