MRP (SAP) Controller

Role Overview

The MRP (SAP) Controller is responsible for managing and optimizing the Material Requirements Planning process to ensure the timely and efficient availability of materials. Using SAP, this role ensures accurate planning, procurement, inventory control, and pricing integrity while maintaining compliance with operational boundaries related to time, cost, resources, and process requirements. The position also oversees physical inventory accuracy, cost analysis, and 3PP (Third-Party Provider) location management.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or any related field.

Relevant Experience

• 3+ years experience in inventory management, MRP, or supply chain planning, preferably with hands-on SAP exposure.
• Experience with SAP modules such as MM (Materials Management), PP (Production Planning), or equivalent modules.
• Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement processes, and material planning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Planning & MRP Execution

• Monitor and manage MRP processes in SAP to ensure timely material availability.
• Analyze demand forecasts, safety stocks, lead times, and consumption patterns to optimize inventory levels.
• Generate, validate, and review MRP reports to ensure alignment between supply and demand.

2. Inventory Control & Management

• Oversee inventory transactions and ensure accurate goods movement posting in SAP (goods receipts, issues, transfers).
• Implement best practices in inventory management to reduce carrying costs and avoid overstock/stockout situations.
• Conduct periodic inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy of system vs. physical stock.

3. Pricing & Cost Analysis

Pricing Accuracy

• Validate pricing accuracy in SAP based on supplier contracts, current market conditions, and internal pricing strategies.
• Review and resolve pricing discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and inventory records.

Supplier Price Comparison

• Analyze supplier pricing to ensure competitiveness and compliance with agreed terms.
• Confirm proper application of discounts, rebates, and supplier pricing agreements.

Cost Variance Analysis & Profitability

• Perform COGS variance analysis and investigate deviations.
• Monitor price changes driven by market conditions or supplier fluctuations.
• Assess product profit margins and recommend price adjustments when needed.

Inventory Valuation & Price Trends

• Conduct inventory valuation using company-approved methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average).
• Track pricing trends and analyze impacts from market, cost, or demand changes.
• Evaluate effects of discounts, promotions, and seasonal pricing on profitability.

4. Physical Inventory Management

• Ensure system inventory data matches physical counts; lead root-cause analysis for discrepancies.
• Schedule and manage regular cycle counts or full stock takes.
• Train and supervise stocktaking personnel to ensure accurate execution.
• Coordinate reconciliations and required financial adjustments with Accounting/Finance.
• Prepare and submit inventory variance reports, audit results, and action plans.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit standards.

5. Management of 3PP (Third-Party Provider) Locations

• Ensure accurate SAP configuration and maintenance for 3PP warehouses and distribution centers.
• Maintain material master data, stock levels, lead times, handling methods, and storage capabilities.
• Ensure accurate vendor/3PP setup in vendor master data, including pricing agreements and delivery terms.
• Configure and manage movement types for 3PP transactions (goods receipts/issues, transfers, returns).
• Coordinate with Finance and vendors regarding location activations/deactivations.
• Update and report the master file tracker monthly.
• Create and update Material Codes in the Material Master as required.
