Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• With certificates in Basic Course in Occupational Medicine, Basic Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
• With experience in community health management and a background in emergency cases management.
• Experience working in rural and remote areas is an advantage.
• Good communication skills - with the ability to communicate ideas with clarity and impact on audience of different job levels, both in oral and written. Fluent in English, Filipino and the local vernacular (Bisaya).
• The position requires a patient, compassionate and detailed person; one who is pleasant and can ensure detailed follow-up actions when required.
• Able to lead the development of a supportive interaction processes with all site and support staff that promotes the development of professional and effective communication.
• Able to promote excellent teamwork and the development of relationships that promote a high level of trust and integrity within the team and towards other departments.
• A thorough and professional working knowledge of the site/s and staff working on the site/s. Understanding of the specific functions of the Medical Services departments.

Required Work Experience

• Experience – Minimum 3 years of experience as an Occupational Health Physician preferably in a Mining industry.

Required Qualifications

• Valid PRC License
• With certificates in Basic Course in Occupational Medicine, Basic Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
• Willing to be assigned in Nonoc Island, Surigao City.

Responsibilities

HEALTH CONDITION MONITORING AND PRIMARY CARE

1. Assess and determine health status of employee after an illness.

2. Provides treatment and rehabilitation to those employees with occupational and non-occupational illnesses.

3. Medical cases referred to other medical specialist for proper disposition and management.

4. Provides direct care involving assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the prevention of illness or injury.

5. Assists HR team in the preparation for the annual physical examination.

6. Conducts follow-ups from employees the necessary diagnostic and treatment based on the annual physical examination result.

7. Assists in the implementation of immunization/vaccination programs and periodic diagnostic procedures (i.e. RT-PCR swab testing, COVID-19 vaccination) during any health threatening situation.

8. Administers and dispenses medications as appropriate from approved list of medications and with proper instructions on how to take it.

9. Provides stabilization, resuscitation and other life support / First aid measures for injuries

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH HAZARD CONTROL

1. Anticipates potential health related risk to every proposed new activity that will be implemented in the project site.

2. Conducts periodic walkthrough/rounds at project site to identify potential health related hazards.

3. Closely coordinates with site EHS officers and project site manager/engineer and recommends necessary risk controls to prevent potential illness attributed by the workplace condition.

4. Conduct regular inspections of sanitation conditions, premises, including all facilities therein, and evaluate the working environment to detect and appraise occupational health hazards and environmental conditions affecting comfort and job efficiency

HEALTH AND WELLNESS AWARENESS PROGRAM

1. Provides relevant information, education and communication (IEC) about different applicable health topics and on any associated occupational health hazards to the affected Staff, Employees and Workers.

2. Provides significant updates to the affected Employees/ Workers regarding new or revised legislations or departmental orders regulated by the enforcing local agency (DOH), DOLE, LGU during Toolbox Talks and EHS Committee Meetings.

3. Provides sufficient information and instruction pertaining to the Occupational Health KPIs, Analysis of Data and Recommendations for Improvements to the affected Staff, Employees and Workers during Toolbox Talks and SHE Committee Meetings.

4. Plans and implements Occupational Health (OH) Reduction Program with reference to the recorded occupational illnesses, health consultations, first aid, medical treatment and medical emergency cases from the previous reporting period.

EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

1. Maintain records of all health and medical cases. Prepares and submits to the employer the annual medical reports by using the DOLE prescribed form.

2. Prepares and submits monthly Workplace Accident Illness Report (WAIR).

3. Collects and disposes appropriately any Clinical Wastes or Hazardous Wastes produced in the Clinic.

4. Help with delivering the approved Departmental Objectives, Targets and Programs (OTPs) Assist on formulating, maintaining, developing, and implementing relevant Standards, OSH Procedures, Work Instructions, Guidelines and Formats.

5. Keep and maintain all relevant records for future reference and in accordance with the Records Retention Policy of the company.
