KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accounts Payable
- Enter and manage supplier invoices in Xero.
- Raise purchase orders and process bills in a timely manner.
- Prepare and manage ABA files for batch payments.
2. Payroll Processing
- Set up new payroll files in Xero.
- Perform straightforward end-to-end payroll processing, including payslips, superannuation, leave, and entitlements.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues and resolve discrepancies.
3. Bank and Account Reconciliations
- Perform accurate and timely bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve any mismatches or errors.
4. GST & BAS Preparation (Desired but not required)
- Apply knowledge of GST coding and treatment.
- Draft and prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) for review and lodgment.
5. General Bookkeeping Support
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records.
- Assist with financial reports, compliance requirements, and communication with accountants and external stakeholders.
- Provide ad-hoc support and reporting as required.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2–3 years of Australian bookkeeping experience.
- Ideally have worked for an Australian public accounting firm.
- Degree in Accounting or related accounting specialisations.
- Strong proficiency in Xero, including bill entry, payroll, and bank feeds.
- Experience preparing ABA files and handling batch payments.
- Confident in setting up and managing Xero Payroll, including troubleshooting and responding to queries.
- Working knowledge of GST rules and BAS preparation.
- Solid reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with other platforms (e.g. MYOB, QuickBooks, Dext) is a plus.
- Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
