Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Enter and manage supplier invoices in Xero.
  • Raise purchase orders and process bills in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and manage ABA files for batch payments.

Payroll Processing

  • Set up new payroll files in Xero.
  • Perform straightforward end-to-end payroll processing, including payslips, superannuation, leave, and entitlements.
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues and resolve discrepancies.

Bank and Account Reconciliations

  • Perform accurate and timely bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve any mismatches or errors.

GST & BAS Preparation (Desired but not required)

  • Apply knowledge of GST coding and treatment.
  • Draft and prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) for review and lodgment.

General Bookkeeping Support

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records.
  • Assist with financial reports, compliance requirements, and communication with accountants and external stakeholders.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and reporting as required.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of Australian bookkeeping experience.
  • Ideally have worked for an Australian public accounting firm.
  • Degree in Accounting or related accounting specialisations.
  • Strong proficiency in Xero, including bill entry, payroll, and bank feeds.
  • Experience preparing ABA files and handling batch payments.
  • Confident in setting up and managing Xero Payroll, including troubleshooting and responding to queries.
  • Working knowledge of GST rules and BAS preparation.
  • Solid reconciliation skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with other platforms (e.g. MYOB, QuickBooks, Dext) is a plus.
  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
