Senior Electrical Engineer

Role:

• Power, EV, and telecommunication Infrastructure (Preferred)
• Own end-to-end electrical analysis and drawings for existing-building upgrades.
• Provided new EV/telecom power feeds.
• Deliver code-compliant load studies, SLDs, electrical equipment sizing and selection without handholding.
• Compute demand, feeder loading, spare capacity; document assumptions.
• Identify life-safety and emergency systems, separate loads (Residential/House/Commercial).
• Read/Coordinate utility standards, drawings and provide changes applied on SLD/Site plans.

Key Items:

• Accurate building code complaint load calculations with:
• Clear understanding of existing infrastructures, assumptions and assess spare-capacity.
• ETAP studies delivered on time:
• Load Flow.
• Short-Circuit.
• Protection Coordination.
• Arc-Flash when requested.
• Complete Electrical Planning Report (EPR) inputs:
• Assess submitted info, Equipment lists, and provide quick feedback for missing items.
• Assess demand readings, and utility invoices (Peak Demand-12-months).
• Diversity/Demand factors, based on code and equipment used.
• Be able to provide recommendations for upgrades, save one energy recommendation and provide technical input.
• EV fast-charging packages:
• Able to read EV supplier specification and installation manual.
• Feeder sizing, OCPD.
• Provide Trench details, site routing, and assess clearances from GAS/Civil and city service.
• Provide grounding details, plate /rods (Code compliant)
• Read existing SLDs of existing building, gas stations, and governmental buildings, and provide updates and correction when needed per CEC/NEC and local utility standards.
• Telecom power for dishes/antennas:
• DC load assessment, read client guide, assess requirements and translate to Electrical Drawings via sketches.
• AC service sizing 120/(208/480/600V), Single (1) Phase and Three (3) Phase.
• Provide metering type, equipment, wiring, routing, mounting, based on utility standards and submittals.
• Additional:
• Able to read markups/sketches/spec, provide redlines.
• Draft Project specification to meet current and up to date standards and meet client requirements.
• Provide general contractor notes on drawings to ensure compliance and clear coordination to avoid construction delays.
• Construction admiration support:
• RFIs: intake, assign, respond with sketch or spec cite. Numbered, dated, logged.
• CCN (change notice): scope, cost/time impact, marked drawings, approval path.
• Submittals/shop drawings: review for code/utility/spec. Track (Approved/Revise & Resubmit).
• Site instructions/field memos: concise directive, single source of info include code reference.

Responsibilities:

• Trace and update SLDs, panel schedules, and site/equipment plans in AutoCAD.

(Revit) is a plus.

• Verify mechanical schedules and equipment's on existing/new.
• Verify emergency/life-safety equipment's.
• Assess all information for existing electrical distribution/infrastructures via pictures without handholding.
• Provide clear RL and Information request to other team members to acquire any missing info.
• Read utility manuals:
• Determine service voltage, feed, and minimum requirements.
• PMT/CT requirements.
• Meter type/location.
• Produce trench and grounding notes/details aligned to CEC/NEC + utility.
• Write concise technical memos and RFI responses to clients, utilities, and contractors.
• Maintain version control and deliverables tracking.

Must-have qualifications:

• Bachelor's (4/5 years program).
• 6–10+ years in building power Residential, commercial, and/or industrial distribution.
• ETAP power user (100% hands-on):
• load flow, short-circuit, coordination; arc-flash exposure.
• AutoCAD proficiency.
• Bluebeam, and Acrobat (professional)
• MS Office (Excel/Word) fluency.
• Strong knowledge of CEC or NEC (comfortable mapping local standards to these).
• Proven utility coordination experience.
• Can independently create:
• load study, fault study, feeder/OCPD sizing, and construction notes.
• Clear/professional report written English. Reliable, on-time delivery.

Optional Requirements:

• Revit, SKM.
• EVSE projects (Level 2, Level 3-DCFC "150/400+ kW").
• Canadian/US utility standards exposure.
• Telecom site power experience.

Day to Day example tasks (week 1–4):

• Review an existing 120/208V building, compute demand and spare; flag life-safety or none code compliant items.
• Assess existing information submitted from client and advise on missing items.
• Build an ETAP model, output SC and coordination plots with recommended breaker settings.
• Draft EV kiosk SLD:
• service selection, feeder/conduit schedule, trench + grounding notes.
• Prepare a telecom site service:
• Draft SLD meet client's need.
• Choose metering (CT vs self-contained).
• Specify transformer size, requirements and clearances for pad/base, and submit a one-page utility brief to PM to handle and coordinate with local utility.

Deliverables and quality bar:

• Calculations to be complete and accurate in a traceable Excel or ETAP report.
• PDF markups + CAD files with revision clouds and dated notes.
• One-page executive summary with risks, assumptions, and next steps.
• Mini building load calc and spare-capacity memo.
• ETAP short-circuit + coordination for two/three panels; propose OCPD sizes/settings, based on utility secondary info.
• Draft an EV DCFC SLD with feeder, OCPD, and trench detail callouts.
