Construction Manager

Job Description:

A Construction Manager oversees and leads construction projects from conception to completion. They are responsible for managing the planning, execution, and closing of a construction project, ensuring it stays on time, within scope, and within budget. This role involves coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients while ensuring compliance with safety standards and building codes.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Project Planning and Management

• Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans.
• Coordinate and supervise construction activities on-site.
• Allocate resources effectively and efficiently.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans.

2. Budgeting and Cost Control

• Prepare and review project budgets and cost estimates.
• Monitor expenses to ensure projects stay within financial targets.
• Approve purchase orders and track project invoices.

3. Team Coordination

• Hire, supervise, and manage subcontractors and construction crews.
• Schedule and lead regular team meetings to discuss project progress and issues.
• Act as a liaison between stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities.

4. Quality Control and Compliance

• Ensure all work complies with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and quality standards.
• Resolve construction issues and delays promptly.

5. Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain detailed records of construction phases, issues, and changes.
• Prepare regular progress reports for clients and senior management.
• Ensure that all necessary permits and documentation are secured and up to date.

6. Health and Safety Oversight

• Enforce health and safety standards on the construction site.
• Conduct safety training and toolbox talks.
• Investigate and report on accidents or unsafe practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience in construction or project management (typically 5+ years).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Procore).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment:

• Primarily on-site at construction locations.
• Often includes extended hours, especially during deadlines or emergencies.

Work Schedule:

• Monday to Saturday
• 8 hours shift
• 10 hours shift
