Structural Draftsman

Job Summary:

The Structural Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, plans, and layouts for structural components and systems used in construction projects. This role requires proficiency in CAD software, understanding of engineering concepts, and close coordination with engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of design outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed structural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations based on engineering calculations and design requirements.
• Interpret and convert conceptual sketches, technical specifications, and design notes into precise CAD drawings.
• Coordinate with structural engineers and architects to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards.
• Revise and update drawings according to design changes, comments, and construction requirements.
• Maintain and organize drawing files, ensuring proper documentation and version control.
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and company guidelines.
• Assist in preparing shop drawings, as-built drawings, and other technical documents required for construction.
• Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to resolve design-related issues during construction.
• Support in quantity take-offs, material estimates, and preparation of design-related documentation when required.
• Keep updated with drafting techniques, software tools, and structural drafting standards.

Qualifications:

• Diploma/Certificate in Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Structural Draftsman in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant drafting/design software.
• Knowledge of structural detailing, building codes, and construction methods.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing drawings.
• Ability to interpret engineering calculations and technical specifications.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

• Experience in 3D modeling and BIM software (Revit, Tekla, etc.).
• Experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
