Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Draftsman with proven experience in Australian construction. The ideal candidate will support our design and documentation team with high-quality architectural and engineering drafting, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare conceptual architectural plans based on provided scope, including site plans, existing and proposed floor plans and elevations, and demolition layouts.
  • Ensure plans clearly reflect measurements such as internal and external areas (m²), ceiling heights, ridge and wall heights, and overall building height.
  • Identify appropriate development approval pathways (CDC or DA/CC) at concept stage.
  • Communicate with clients via email and Microsoft Teams to discuss designs and make revisions as required.
  • Finalise architectural plans for submission to Council or Certifiers, ensuring all plans are compliant and construction-ready.
  • Prepare and compile all supporting application documentation, including:

  • BASIX Certificate

  • Statement of Environmental Effects
  • Waste Management Plan
  • Application forms
  • External Colour Schedules
  • Sydney Water Tap-In Approvals
  • Provide DWG files of finalised plans to Engineers for structural documentation.
  • Manage lodgement of development applications via the NSW Planning Portal or through the client's preferred Private Certifier.
  • Liaise with multiple external stakeholders to gather required documentation and obtain project approvals on behalf of clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' professional drafting experience, preferably within the Australian construction industry.
  • Proven experience preparing architectural plans for CDC and DA/CC lodgements.
  • Previous experience as an Independent Contractor for Australian clients.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software).
  • In-depth understanding of the Building Code of Australia and NSW local council requirements.
  • Strong ability to interpret architectural and client-provided drawings.
  • Prior experience working in a similar capacity within NSW is essential.
  • Experience working with international clients, particularly Australian-based projects.
