
Procurement Officer

Job Summary:
The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects. This role ensures that procurement activities are cost-effective, timely, and compliant with company policies and industry standards while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting overall project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
- Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders (POs) in line with project requirements.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site/project teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Ensure all procured items comply with required specifications, quality standards, and project needs.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, invoices, and other procurement documentation.
- Develop and maintain supplier database and build long-term vendor relationships.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and site teams to forecast material requirements.
- Assist in tendering, bidding, and contract management for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
- Address and resolve any issues with delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer/Buyer in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and networking skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software (ERP systems is a plus).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple procurement activities under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of local and international construction material suppliers.
- Experience in contract management and tendering process.
- Familiarity with importation, logistics, and customs procedures (if applicable).
