Job Summary:

The Procurement Officer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services required for construction projects. This role ensures that procurement activities are cost-effective, timely, and compliant with company policies and industry standards while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting overall project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and evaluate suppliers, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.
  • Prepare, review, and issue purchase orders (POs) in line with project requirements.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site/project teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Ensure all procured items comply with required specifications, quality standards, and project needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, invoices, and other procurement documentation.
  • Develop and maintain supplier database and build long-term vendor relationships.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and site teams to forecast material requirements.
  • Assist in tendering, bidding, and contract management for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Address and resolve any issues with delivery delays, shortages, or quality concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer/Buyer in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and suppliers.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and networking skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software (ERP systems is a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple procurement activities under tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of local and international construction material suppliers.
  • Experience in contract management and tendering process.
  • Familiarity with importation, logistics, and customs procedures (if applicable).
