R&D Specialist-Adhesives

I. Job Summary

The R&D Specialist-Adhesives is responsible for researching, developing, and optimizing adhesive formulations and technologies to support product innovation, performance improvement, and market competitiveness. This role will involve conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing material properties, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including product development, manufacturing, quality, and marketing. He/She will be effectively participating in the effective execution of Quality Management System, Environmental Management System, safety policies and regulatory requirements.

II. Roles and Responsibilities

1. Product and Technology Development

-Takes instructions from R&D Supervisor, R&D Assistant Manager or R&D Manager on the development of adhesives & products that will suit the requirements of a specific client using new, existing or modified process or materials.

-Conducts laboratory testing and experiment on existing or proposed products / materials in order determine:

Suitability of proposed substitute materials and / or process for existing products.

Suitability of existing and/ or proposed products for varying uses

Characteristics/specifications of materials, particularly incoming materials, for new improved products.

2. Packaging and Product Compliance

-To ensure packaging compatibility, stability, and regulatory compliance through coordination with Packaging and Regulatory teams.

-To ensure product readiness and compliance with global standards such as GHS, REACH, VOC, EPA, DOT, and ADR.

3. Laboratory Management and Quality Systems

-Participates in laboratory operations and ensure adherence to PPE use, safety protocols, and 5S practices.

-To ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and utilization of testing and mixing equipment.

-To implement and monitor R&D procedures aligned with QMS, EMS, and Safety Management Systems.

-To support validation of test methods for accuracy, repeatability, and reliability of data.

-To support root cause and failure analyses for laboratory or field issues.

4. Documentation, Data, and ERP Management

-To maintain data accuracy and traceability through standardized documentation and ERP systems.

-To prepare technical reports, trainings, presentations and other management requirements.

-Filing of ERP related transactions such as Revolving fund, Cash advance, stock withdrawals, replenishments, Bill of materials, exploratory BOMs

5. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination

-To collaborate with Marketing, Sales, QA, SC and Finance on product and process initiatives.

-To provide technical support for field trials, demos, troubleshooting, trainings, and customer visits.

6. Continuous Improvement and Innovation

-To identify and implement cost-saving, process improvement, and efficiency initiatives.

-To support standardization of best practices, documentation, and compliance systems within R&D.

7. Other Functions

-To represent R&D in internal and external audits or regulatory inspections.

-To perform other duties assigned by the R&D Supervisor, R&D Assistant Manager or R&D Manager in line with departmental goals and objectives

III. Qualifications and Education Requirements

• College graduate preferably degree course in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering , Material Science.
• Preferably with Minimum of 2 years of experience in laboratory related field/environment; Fresh graduates are welcome to apply
• Previous experience in Quality Control field is highly appreciated

IV. Preferred Skills

• Good knowledge in good laboratory and manufacturing practices
• Good knowledge in Quality control procedures and techniques
• Experience in environmentally friendly adhesive/ sealant technologies
• Experience with the following Technologies: water based, Solvent based and reactive systems
• Computer Literate
• Driving License
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php20, Php25,000.00 per month
